Stonehenge Equinox Dartington Crystal Bowl

PHOTO MISSING

This exquisitely crafted glass bowl makes a stunning centrepiece filled with fruit or other delicacies, or left empty to appreciate its full beauty. The bowl has been produced exclusively for English Heritage by Dartington. Each piece has been individually hand-blown in 24% lead crystal and hand-engraved by master engraver Nick Davey. The glass bowl features English Heritages specially commissioned Stonehenge Equinox design, inspired by an original 18th-century etching held at the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes. Stonehenges true purpose is shrouded in mystery, but one theory is that it was a giant calendar. It is believed that the stones and the surrounding 56 Aubrey chalk pit holes make it possible to predict the spring and autumn equinoxes, when the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night is almost equal.Dartington was established in Torrington, Devon, in 1967, where its workshops are still based. Many of the original glassmakers came over from Sweden, teaching their skills to English craftsmen. The only crystal manufacturer in the UK today, it continues to produce beautiful handmade glassware featuring timeless designs.Handmade in EnglandExclusive to English Heritage24% lead crystalHand-engraved designSilk lined gift boxFull range of Dartington Crystal available
