Guidebook: Appuldurcombe House

PHOTO MISSING

ppuldurcombe House was once one of the most important estates on the Isle of Wight, and was the home of the Worsley family for 300 years. It dates from 1701 but was enlarged and altered 70 years later. At the end of the century the grounds were landscaped by 'Capability' Brown. Uninhabited since 1909, the house fell into ruin but restoration, mainly to the great hall and projecting wings, has brought it some way back to its former glory. This handbook contains a descriptive tour followed by the history of the house and those who built and lived in it.
