Leighton is best known for his striking Pre-Raphaelite style paintings depicting medieval chivalry. This regal scene, rich in pageantry, features a maiden bidding adieu to a mounted knight clad in chain-mail, who is departing through a portcullis of a stately English castle, to join his comrades on a noble expedition.Please note: Tapestries by their nature are flexible and over time humidity and temperature may slightly affect their shape. To help a tapestry hang better we recommend using a dry iron on a 'Cotton' setting through a linen cloth. Lightly iron the tapestry from the centre towards the edges [on the face]. In very extreme cases the Tapestry can be stretched by pulling the panel gently by hand, diagonally. To remove a build-up of dust over time, lightly use a clothes brush or vacuum on the lowest setting using the textile attachment.
